Chairman of TeArawa FoMA

Malcolm Short, has taken on the Chairman’s role on a number of Trust’s within the Rotorua area. 

Malcolm is not only Chairman of the Rotorua Lakes and Land Trust, but has been the Chairman of the Pukeroa Oruawhata trust for more than 20 years and is the present Director of Pukeroa Oruawhata Holdings Ltd. 

 In 1993, he led the team which successfully negotiated the Ngati Whakaue Agreement that saw the return of railway land to local iwi.  The area is now the site of the Rotorua Central Mall.  Mr Short is also the Chairman of the Te Arawa Federation of Maori Authorities and is on the First Sovereign Gaming Trust Grants Distribution Committee. 

 He is a member of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce and on the RDC Events Centre Board.  For many years he was a member of the Te Arawa Maori Trust Board and the Ngati Whakaue Tribal Lands Incorporation. 

 Malcolm was recently awarded an ONZM for his services to the Maori Community.
